Valentine's Sugar Cookies

Get your bake on for Valentine’s Day with these super easy and adorable Valentine’s Sugar Cookies, which compliment the Le Creuset L’Amour Collection beautifully.

Recipe Information

  • Prep Time: 60 Minutes 
  • Cooking Time: 12-15 Minutes 

 

Ingredients

  • 125g cold unsalted butter
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 250g plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

 

Method

  1. Cream together the sugar and butter

  2. Add the egg and mix well

  3. Add the vanilla and mix well again

  4. Add the flour and mix well until the dough forms (medium speed if using a mixer)

  5. Knead into a ball on a floured surface

  6. Wrap in cling film and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes

  7. Roll out evenly onto a floured surface and use a cookie cutter to cut out your desired shapes

  8. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and return to the fridge to chill for a further 30 minutes

  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan assisted) for 12-15 minutes, until the edges begin to brown

  10. Once baked, let them cool on the tray for a while until transferring to a cooling rack

 

Royal Icing

 

Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 450-500g icing sugar
  • food colouring gel(s) of choice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

 

Method

  1. Whisk the egg whites and vanilla until frothy

  2. Sift over 300g of the icing sugar and mix until smooth and thick

  3. Continue to sift and mix the remaining icing sugar until you reach your desired consistency

  4. For coloured icing, add and mix in your food colouring (divide the icing if using multiple colours)

  5. For ‘flooding’, loosen up the icing with a few teaspoons of water and mix well
